Canola Growing & Processing Entry Strategy for Global Chinese Client
Client was considering the purchase of - or Joint Venture - in a canola processing facility in Australia and acquiring non-GM farms. They required a third party feasibility study that it could use to show homeland investors.
Inspected 200,000 acre+ farms in Northern NSW & processing facilities in Melbourne & Newcastle for locational advantages, competitive advantages in haulage, competitiveness in the facility’s target market, and its margin potential going forward.
Project was put on hold due to the re-direction of capital to Inner Mongolia.
Australian Live Cattle Processing Facility in China
We co-invested with a local Chinese County Government & a private Chinese investors to design & build the first pilot projects in China for the new live cattle import protocol for Australian beef cattle. The local government client wished to partner with Australian investors with industry experience.
On the market side, we advised that the facility needed to be a long-term investment & focus on branding and high-end supply to restaurants and similar users.
On the technical side, we projected the cost to build and operate a facility over a ten year period and recommended potential equipment vendors that the client should pursue.
RestoreAG through an associated entity also became a co-investor to the project.
The facility was completed and initial trial shipment of live cattle has been completed.
