Remnants of the forest can be found in various LGAs including Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and Port Stephens. Outliers can also be observed in Pokolbin and Corrabare State Forests on the eastern escarpment of Narrabeen Sandstone.
